Welcome to Long Lake Shorthorns! We're thrilled to provide a glimpse into our cattle operation, located outside of Simpson, SK.
Long Lake Shorthorns is located on the 5 generation Rintoul Family Farm, a mix of grain and cattle, where Shorthorns have always had a place. Our commercial herd was derived from our great grandfather’s herd genetics, and this is something that we're very proud of. We're a family unit of lifetime farmers/cattle producers - our lives truly revolve around our livestock and we wouldn’t have it any other way!
Our herd currently consists of 350 Shorthorn influenced commercial cattle, and 60 purebred females. We have always enjoyed what the Shorthorn breed has to offer and we strive to raise quality, functional cattle that can work in any program - easy keeping, easy calving, hard working animals are our main focus. We’ve recently added new genetics to our program as well, and are very excited for what the future holds - both in the sale pen & show ring!
We are the proud home of our 2 main walking herdsires - LL Ruddy 15H ET (Crooked Post Stockman 4Z x Waukaru Red Nan 1049) and HC Hollywood 6H. We were the home of HC Drum Major 11D for many years before we sadly lost him in 2022 - he left his legacy in our herd, where his genetics still run strong in our female group.
Currently, purebred bulls are sold off the yard by private treaty - all sale animals will be posted on our Sale Pen page as well as our Facebook page, so if you’re in the market, keep an eye out! Sires and dams of sale bulls are also available for viewing on the ranch. All bulls are registered with the Canadian Shorthorn Association, born unassisted, semen tested & guaranteed.
Messages, phone calls, etc., are always welcome. We’d be happy to visit, or give you a tour of the ranch - or, if you’re attending a show that we’re at, be sure to swing by our stall!
